Mashed potatoes are a delicious hearty side dish, that fits pretty much every holiday. Every Thanksgiving, my mom makes these fluffy flavorful potatoes that barely make it an hour without being devoured. I thought I would share with you the recipe, so you all can enjoy it as well.
Here are the ingredients you will need:
A 5 Lb bag of potatoes (white or yellow/gold will work perfectly)
2 Chicken Bouillon cubes (You can substitute with 1 quart of chicken stock if you don’t have the cubes)
1 cup of Milk
1/3 cup of Heavy Cream
1 1/2 Tsp of Salt
1 Tsp of Pepper, and Garlic Powder
1 1/2 sticks of Butter
Here’s how you make it:
1. Peel and quarter the potatoes
2. In a large pot boil on high, the 2 bouillon cubes and enough water to cover the potatoes (or 1 quart of the chicken stock and fill the rest with water until the potatoes are covered)
3. Cook the potatoes in the large pot for about 25 minutes, or until fork-tender.
4. Drain the liquid, and put the potatoes into a bowl with 1 1/2 sticks of butter.
5. Mash the potatoes and butter until combined.
6. Add the 1 cup of milk and stir until combined, then add the 1/3 cup of heavy cream and mix.
7. Add the 1 /2 Tsp of Salt, 1 Tsp of Pepper, and 1 Tsp of Garlic powder, and stir until combined.
8. Serve.
